Boe info;
This information was taken
from “My Heritage”, written in 1926 by Alfhild
Boe.
Grandfather of Alfhild; Thomas Haugen
Both great grandfathers were from Vang
in Valdres.(Mountains of
southern
Even Torstenson Baggetun was one.
Even had three children, Ambjor, Anders, and Tosten.
Tosten became a schoolmaster. Anders (Andris), brother of Tosten and great grandmother Ambjor, became a schoolmaster, and well known toastmaster
Great great grandfather; Even Boe, also from Vang His children were Haavor, Even, Jorgen, and Engebret, great grandfather of Alfhild. Engebret married Ambjor, daughter of Even Torstenson Baggetun. Their four surviving children were Ingebor, Velgier, Engebret (grandfather of Alfhild), and Even. Ambjor died when Engebret was 12 or 14, leaving the children to fend for themselves.
Engebret was born in Vang, Valdres, November 9, 1840. As a merchant in Hardanger, he bought a piece of land. After his wife died in 1884, he married Anna Graue from Voss. Anna was Alfhild’s grandmother. She died Easter Day, 1902.
Kristi Skare, Alfhild’s grandmother was born in 1840. She was married to Engebret Boe in 1867. She was the mother of nine children (one set of twins), five of who died in infancy. She died in 1884 after the birth of the ninth child.
Alfhild’s father had three sisters, Ambjor, Ingeborg, and Torbejorg. After grandfather’s second marriage, two boys and two girls were born, Christie, Emmads, Martha (my grandmother), and Ingebrigt.
Alfhilds father was born at Odda, Hardanger on March 30, 1892. He was an ordained minister.
I still don’t know the name of Alfhild’s father, and the genealogy is confusing. I know I have a picture of the family after the second marriage. I will add it when I find it.
These are some photos taken
from my collection. They are all related to the Boes
in one way or another.
The first is taken from a new
page, http://www.petesmemories.com/wiger.html.
Erling Boe was kind enough to
identify the folks in the photo.
Updated info from Erling. At 12:43 PM

Perhaps I need to take a closer look.
The one I am asking about is this one.
Hi again
Pete.
See my responses below. The are in ALL CAPS so you can spot them easily.

THE
LADY NEXT TO ME IS MY SECOND WIFE, JOAN (SKINNER WAS HER MAIDEN NAME). SHE
BROUGHT DAUGHTERS ELIZABETH (b. 1980) AND SHERIDAN (SHERSI, b. 1974) INTO MY
LIFE. NEXT IS MY AUNT CHRISTIE, JIM WEIGHER, HUSBAND OF ANNA MARIE (NEXT),
DAUGHTER OF CHRISTIE. I AM NOT SURE OF THE OTHER TWO WOMEN. IS ONE YOUR MOTHER
AND THE OTHER MY AUNT MARTHA?
my sister, Gloria, My mother, Irma
Peterson, and my grandmother, Martha Boe/Peterson, Christie’s sister.
I have some new material for Emmads.
It was contributed by Christie Wiger/Livingston
Excerpt
from email:
The date for Emmads death is 1955. So
far that's as close as I get.

I will add exact dates when I have them.

The following caption was translated for me by Christie Rose Marie Wiger/Livingston.
The girl is seated next to the boy, she
is wearing a beautiful flowing white dress with shoulder pads. The caption is
"Kare og Erna, eldste barna til
Agnes. komfirmasjonen."
It translates to "Kari and Erna, oldest children to
Agnes. Confirmation."
Which, if you’re a Lutheran
like the Ancestors, you know was a big deal when you’re about 12 years of
age. It is like a Bar Mitzvah for Lutheran kids.
Thank you Christie. I was thinking “prom”. I would have never
known!
Erling E.
Boe, son of Emmads E. Boe. I have recently had correspondence with Erling, my father’s cousin.
He
just turned 83 years young, and is planning on retiring, soon. (as of may 2014)
He
was kind enough to contribute his work history, which I will add here.
Thanks for
keeping me in the loop, Terry, on this information.
I have
returned from some travels, and celebrated events such as a birthday and
retirement. I am digging out of a mound of deferred responsibilities, but will
be able to help out with you project soon.
As to
a photo of me with a lovely lady, that might be one of several, so it depends
on the one you see me with. I have a checkered social history. The mother of
Eve Elizabeth is Jane Elder (prior to marrying me). Eve Elizabeth is my natural
daughter, Sheridan A. by adoption, and Elizabeth Milton (birth last name) by
affection (she came into my life with her mother).
I am
happy to respond to your questions. If I miss responding to some, just ask
again.
All for now, but I am back in social business, and
having a connection with you and Christie is interesting and a pleasure for me.
By the
way, Terry, where do you reside now, are you employed
or retired, etc. I attach my Curriculum Vitae, as academics call their Resume.
My home address for 27 years has been
6456
Sherwood Road
Philadelphia,
PA 19151
And
my bride for the past 13 happy is Rita, who brought adult twins (a boy and a
girl) into my life.
All
the best, Erling
